Ghana's authoritative two-stage registration framework for commercial Data Centre operators — from breaking ground to going live. Issued pursuant to the NITA Act, 2008 (Act 771).
Every commercial Data Centre providing services for a fee in Ghana must complete both stages of registration with NITA before serving customers.
Both stages are mandatory. Stage 1 must be completed and approved before Stage 2 can be submitted. Use your Stage 1 certificate number to pre-populate Stage 2.
Complete before commencing construction of a commercial Data Centre. Covers applicant identity, site information, technical drawings, compliance declarations, and fee payment.
Submit after construction is fully complete. Authorises provision of Data Centre services to the public for a fee. Requires as-built documents and all final regulatory approvals.
Having these ready before starting your application ensures a smooth and complete submission.
Data Centre operators must demonstrate compliance with a comprehensive set of Ghanaian regulatory requirements across energy, environment, data protection, and physical safety.
Registration is mandatory for all commercial Data Centre operators providing services to the public for a fee within the Republic of Ghana. Non-compliance attracts penalties under the Act.
